How to Add Video to WordPress.

The easiest way to insert video in a WordPress is to upload your video to one of the many video hosting sites and use their embed code.  It saves space and bandwidth on your server/hosting and is simple.

There are several plugins, that can also embed video but to be honest I haven’t been real pleased with the free plugins.  The biggest problems is the geeks who write the software are brilliant but have difficulty relating to use mere mortals.

Below I am using the FLV plugin from Athens Software.  This is a paid software and I have just gotten the latest version from support but as still getting these “warnings” below the post.

NOTE: I just removed the video since the plugin gave so many warnings.

I will do some more research and let you know the easiest way to add video without hassle.  (Meanwhile use something like youtube… very simple. That is what I used in the posts below.)

  2. Hey Linda!

Video CAN be quite a bear, but here’s a solution I figured out after MUCH trial and error.

I upload my video to my hosting account AFTER converting it to FLV file. I then use coding from http://www.freevideocoding.com and go through the 2 simple steps to get the HTML code.

Then I just paste the code where I want it on my site and PRESTO! Video on my site without the annoyances of using someone else’s hosting.

You can also use the HTML code from the index.html page that the program Web Video Wizard generates. I like that software because you can set the buffer time (I like 2) and then don’t have such long lag times before the video starts.

    Hope that helps! :o )

Hello Susan! Thanks for the feedback.

I just tried it and it looks quite easy. I will make another post showing the results.
