1. Show Your Expertise - Yahoo Answers

Have you ever been to Yahoo Answers?

Yahoo Answers has been around for a while. They have tons of questions and answers on about any topic imaginable!

There is an estimated 21 million unique users in the U.S. and 90 million worldwide. If this is accurate, this would make Yahoo! Answers one or the largest knowledge-sharing community on the Web.

Basically it is an online community. What makes Answers unique is the ability for anyone to ask and answer questions on any topic.

This Q & A format connects people to the information they’re seeking with those who know it or at least think they know it.

The fun part about it is that each of us have some life experience and knowledge about something, and Yahoo! Answers provides a way for each of us to share our experience and insight.

Just for fun, take a stroll through some of the questions that are asked. Look at the variety of topics. Count the number of responses.

Here is a list of all the different catergories:

* Best of Answers
* Arts & Humanities
* Beauty & Style
* Business & finance
* Cars & Transportation
* Computers & Internet
* Consumer Electonics
* Dining Out
* Education & Reference
* Entertainment & Music
* Environment
* Family & Relationship
* Food & Drink
* Games & Recreation
* Health
* Home & Garden
* Local Business
* News & Events
* Pets

* Society & Culture
* Sports
* Travel
* Yahoo! Products

How does it work?

Basically it is a point system. You get 100 points just for signing up. Asking questions or deleting an answer will remove points from your account.

You build points by:
Answer a question
Vote for a best answer
Your answer is selected as the best answer

So what???
How does this help my business?

There are several strategies for using any of these social networking sites. Here is how I use Yahoo! Answers:

I log into my Answers account once a week and type in keywords associated with my areas of expertise. I look for the open questions and see if I know the/an answer.

If I know a good answer, then I give them content. This is a win-win situation. The person asking the question receives good content and I build my credibility.

Sometimes more details for help are found on other web pages which I will list. Many times the answer is on my website!

2. Website Design Mistake - Too Much STUFF!

Have you seen this?
A website with 101 different topics...

This happens a lot. A newbie learns how to make a website and they don't have a focus or purpose and they cover every topic of interest.

Pick a purpose for your website. Find out what your visitors are looking for and provide it for them.
(I know, easier said than done...)
